Just saw a thread that asked the most over rated player of all time. The most common name to pop up in the comments was David Beckham. Has his celebrity made people think that this was the reason he was given a career? Surely nobody who watched him every week in his prime could have this opinion?

Seems like a harsh choice for sure, I think you hit the nail on the head though. He was the first real celebrity footballer and I think for some that took away from his status as a player, wrongfully in my opinion.
